Pasty kit instructions

Measure the Diameter of your areola (the circles of pigmented skin around the nipple) so you know the area you need to cover with the pasty.

Find the line that goes down the center of your plastic embroidery disk and cut down it from the edge to the center of the disk. Repeat on the second disk. Cut out the center little crosshair of the disk for better flexibility of the pasty.

Centered on the plastic disk, measure the length of the diameter of your nipple and add .5" (half an inch). Find the nearest ring to that on your disk, and cut around it.

Note: If you are making a pasty shape other than a circle, make sure the shape can contain the circle at your proper diameter so it still covers the nipple.

Put a strip of glue across the edge of one side of the cut you made along the radius of the disk and then overlap the pieces to form a conical shape. I like to count how many holes at the edge of the pasty overlap so that when I do the other side, I can do the same depth. I usually recommend 3–6 of the grid holes overlapping depending on size and preference.

Now that the cone is dry, double check it against your areola. If it needs trimming, do that now.

Lay the pasty on the scrap fabric, and cut a square with about a .25" bleed around it for each pasty.

Cover half the pasty with hot glue. I like to do the side where the plastic grid overlaps to reinforce the bond.

Lay the top half of your square scrap fabric on the pasty, and gently flatten it against the glued half of the cone.

From the opposite half of the fabric scrap that is glued, cut a slit from the center edge to the "nipple" of the pasty. Glue one half of the remaining fabric down at a time. They will overlap each other similar to the plastic sheeting.

Once the glue dries, cut the remaining scrap fabric off the edge of the pasty around the shape of the plastic mesh.

Optional

If you want to add a lure for future tassels, you may do that now. Carefully poke a small hole through the fabric at the nipple of the pasty. Slide the lure in half way so that the plastic mesh and the silver ball in the middle align. Hot glue it in place from the back of the pasty, letting the hot glue cover the back half of the metal lure for protection of your nipple.

You may now rhinestone your pasty! I recommend mixing your stones together and having fun with color and patterns! For the larger, unique shape of the rhinestones, I often love to make them overlap with the outside edge, creating a fun dimension to the pasty!
